Thursday the 6th June
Gravel road ride to Harry's Hut on the Noosa River.
Ride Leader: Peter Palis
Departs from: Rotunda at the Gold Mining Museum, Monkland.
This is the first run for Adventure styled bikes for the Gympie Branch, we will not be traveling at breakneck speeds and this is just a trial to see how the riders handle the ride. This will then shape how we tackle any future rides.
Travel out on Noosa Road to Mothar Mountain, turn into Hill Road to travel on gravel road past the Mothar Mountain Rock Pools and up the hill. There's a lookout that I know about along the road that we'll stop at before riding down into Cooran. (30kms)
Then we will travel via the 'black top' to Kin Kin where we will stop at the Black Ant cafe for smoko. (14kms)
Then the riders can decide if they would like to travel home or continue on down to Harry's Hut on the Noosa River with me via more gravel road. (27kms)
Now turning back towards Gympie we will travel via the short section of gravel to Wolvi and up to Salmon lookout on Wolvi maintain. (33kms)
So, from the lookout back into Gympie is all black top and a 28km easy run.
All up it is about 100kms, which we will do at a leisurely pace, I'm expecting to be back in Gympie after lunch.
Cheers Peter Palis
