Gravel road ride - 'West of Tiaro'
Ride Leader: Dave Nolan/Peter Palis
Departs from: Rotunda at the Gold Mining Museum, Monkland.
A ride for Adventure styled bikes traveling good gravel/tar roads. We will not be traveling at breakneck speeds, its about enjoying the environments and the great outdoors.
1. Start with 70kms bitumen to Tiaro to get to the good stuff. The last chance fuel and coffee at Tiaro, so we will have a break here.
2. Then it's a nice mix of gravel (120kms) and bitumen (60kms) back roads through Thinoomba, Doongul, Musket Flat, Aramara. Glenbar, Walkers Flat, Gigoomgan. Teebar, Boompa, Inooroolabar, Neardie (not near Neerdie), Malarga Downs, Booubyjan, Dadamarine, Boonara.
3. After pausing for a rousing chorus of "I've been everywhere, man", its then 70kms home on the bitumen from just this side of Goomeri.
4. Nothing much else until we hit Kilkivan on the way home. So best to carry something for lunch on the road somewhere.
All up about 320kms, 120kms gravel and 200kms tar.
